Backyard Social debuted last Thursday as South Fort Myers’ new gathering space. In between duckpin bowling and shuffleboard, grab a drink from the full bar and wander between the eight food trucks in the open-air complex. (The space is covered, for rain-or-shine fun and large ceiling fans grant a breeze.) Find local favorites, like Addison’s on the Go and No Manches, stationed there for the foreseeable future.

As season picks up, anticipate new openings. Following successful stints in Chicago, Houston and Atlanta, French-Vietnamese Le Colonial opens on Fifth Avenue South next month after a two year wait. The vibe is Old Naples-meets-1920s Saigon with mahogany millwork, louvered shutters and palms around the dining room and sidewalk patio.
Brooke Kravetz and Daniel Swofford aim to open their latest venture, Old Vines Naples at Mercato, in the next few weeks. (Oenophiles, take note: there’s a 300-label wine cellar, including more than 30 by-the-glass pours, and a wine-locker program that promises members first dibs on events, monthly tastings and highly sought-after bottles.

The Cariot family has shared they will remain the owners and operators of Bleu Provence (it was recently reported that the Hoffmann family would acquire the French restaurant). The Cariot family opened the space in 1999, which has since won a Wine Spectator Grand Award and many other accolades thanks to its 60,000-bottle wine cellar.

One young Collier County student is reaching high. Second-grader Elisabeth Joy Grove just launched her moringa tea business, Elisabeth’s Dream Farm. She picked, crushed, and packed moringa into 18 bags she sold during the indoor Hand and Harvest Market in Mercato and sold out on her first day. It makes sense she’s already a successful entrepreneur—she’s local private chef Daniela Craciun’s daughter.
